Rapids Trade Ty Harden to Toronto

No huge surprise with this one. The coaching staff said all the right things about Harden when he was signed last year but his fate was somewhat sealed when he got injured in the early season game against Columbus and was replaced by Scott Palguta. Palguta cemented his place in the team thereafter and there was no room for Harden. His trade also frees up some space for the expected signing of central defender, Oscar Murillo, from Colombia. Harden was traded in exchange for a draft pick.

Seems like we at lesat got equal value for what we gave up for Harden, a third round pick for a thrid round pick. I guess the question I have with Murillo coming in is will he have a different fate than Harden?

Defense to this point includes Kimura, Moor, Baudet, Palguta, Holody, Valentino and apparently Murillo. Right now it looks like the first four listed are the starters, but who really knows. Nick, Help!

yea but didn't we send Valentino out on loan, so he won't be around? That leaves Holody and Murrillo in the back as backups.

Yup, he's loaned out alright. Lets hope there is something more in store as far as brining in some new guy, especially in the back.

If Gary Smith was choosing a back four for opening day right now, I think he would go for a combination of Kimura, Moor, Baudet and Palguta. Danny Earls will be another alternative on the left side of defense and he also has Holody and Murillo. Don't be surprised either if he plays Pablo in the back at some point in the season. Much will depend on the effectiveness of Larentowicz, whom Smith is planning much of his gameplan around. I'll post something on this soon, I promise.

Could we possibly be looking at a central midfield of Wicz and Pablo? Seems like that makes LaBrocca a bench warmer yet again.

i'm interested on how this midfield will look, where does J.Smith fit in? Personally i hope we start using Pablo less and keep Labrocca on the field

J. Smith was great out on the wing last year before he hurt himself by being too crafty that the only thing an opponent could do was injure him. If he plays well and if Clark comes back from injury with something to proove I don't see any possibility that anyone else would play out wide in the midfield. I still really like Pablo in a DM position as he has the ball skills to start the attack from deep but also isn't afraid to be that physical presence when defending. The big hole from last season was creativity in more of an AM position. LaBrocca was almost too much like Pablo in playing a DM position and it sounds like Wicz is the same kind of guy. Kinda makes you miss the days of Valderama.
