Rapids Close in on Striker as Waive Richardson

Press release from the Rapids issued late Friday: The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has waived forward Gregory Richardson.
Richardson appeared in one game for the Rapids this season playing 11 minutes in the season opener against Chivas USA on March 21. He also played the full 90 minutes in Colorado’s U.S. Open Cup play-in match against Seattle on May 26.
Richardson’s rights were originally acquired by the Rapids in a trade with Toronto FC on February 27 and the Guyana forward was signed by Colorado on March 20.

This makes the likelihood of singing another striker in the not too distant future ever more of a possibility. More to follow later.

Nick:

Any word on this rumor that Cooke is on the out?

I'll be honest, if Cookie is let go I'll be pretty upset.

A rumor that has Cooke on the way out? That would upset me as well.

Then again this rumor has been floating around for a while.

I am still trying to figure out who this new striker could be and how much of a difference it will make for the team. I am hoping if it is a big name it is also someone that could play in the midfield. I just like Casey and Cummings together up top too much.

I don't know about this. I would think it is unlikely. The only thing I would say is that, if there is any truth in it, it may be coming from Terry's end. He may just have reached a point when he needs a change. Maybe the incident with his son may have changed his views on things and made him realize he needs to be back in England? I'll be sure to look into it.
